The latter, on the inside, a prominent factor from the start, held on well at the end. CORONA CORONA made a determined bid in the stretch and faltered. SUNCAP showed a good effort throughout. DEVILS THUMB had a flash of speed and could not-keep up. SEAWARD BOUND finished well. RIVER WOLF had no mishaps. QUIZ finished well. DOVE SHOOT was on the inside throughout. VACUUM CLEANER could not keep up. ACCORD swerved sharply after the start. NOONDAY SUN ran in spots. CUMSHAW had no mishaps. TIGON could not keep up. TOSS UP had a flash of speed. NAVY BLUE was outrun. PACIFIST was never a factor. FORT-LIGHT was outrun. BLENHIGH had no mishaps. WAR COMMANDER was never a factor. DEVIL DIVER was taken under restraint after the start, moved up stoutly going to the far turn, dropped back, then, entering the stretch, was steered to the outside and, under severe pressure, wore down DOGPATCH. The latter was sprinted into command, displayed speed and held on well to the end. FIRST FIDDLE moved up fast on the inside rounding the stretch turn when urged, then faltered.
