HAPPY SIS, never far from the leaders and holding her position on the outside, rallied strongly in the drive and wore down the pacemaker to get up in the concluding strides. ODDREE showed good speed to set the pace, met strong efforts from MARDI GRAS and fought it out tenaciously in the drive. MARDI GRAS, close up from the start, made strong bids and fought it out gamely while finishing between horses. DISCOBOLO found racing room on the inside in the last three-sixteenths and finished strongly. MERRY GESTURE, well up early, fell back when going lame. CHARMING BOY could not enter a contending position. ANN GROUCHER was never a factor. LADY MELODY had no mishaps. BROOMORIA, rushed vigorously to gain a short lead, was displaced midway of the back stretch, returned into the lead leaving the far side, then, holding on strongly under steady pressure, drew out at the close. ARDMORE II., having good speed from the beginning, was rushed to the front midway of the back stretch, then gave way readily, but was best of the others. GAY SIR, slow to get into full stride, finished gamely in the late stages. MISS NEPTUNE was handled stoutly while racing on the outside, but was not good enough. FREETONE showed a good effort throughout. SALLIPATICA could not menace seriously. SO FAST began slowly. BUGLE ANN was outrun. HIGH BUD, much the best, circled around his company to enter a contending position when straightened in the back stretch, worked his way to the front on the final turn and drew clear, then drew away smartly. PASO GRANDE, stoutly handled and racing forwardly, closed well, but was no threat to the winner. SATIN ROYCE followed close to the pacemaker and made strong challenges, but tired in the last three-sixteenths. PANDORAMINT was overhauled leaving the back stretch and tired steadily. SURPRISE BOX was hard urged, but failed to threaten. SATIN MARIE could not engaee the leaders. LADYS FAVOR and MISS FIDGET were never factors. JIM, going in pursuit of the pacemaker, moved up strongly heading into the stretch, then withstood a drive willingly and was up nearing the end, BLACK BASS sprinted clear when straightened in the back stretch and saved ground all the way, but gave way steadily under punishment in the drive. MICROPLAY, under strong handling from the start, closed with excellent courage in the final issue. STADIUM, rated forwardly and on the outside of the leaders, lost ground entering the stretch, but held on well to the end. MISS KSAR lacked early speed and could not reach the leaders. . MIGHTY BUSY raced evenly. SUNINGTON was stoutly riddfn, but was not good enough. TRUE WARRIOR ran out on the turns. ARQUERO "worked his way forward steadily in the last half mile, but closed with good speed. MAESAK was a forward factor under strong handling and finished well. STORMINESS began .slowly, but gained ground steadily when in stride. PIMLICO LADY was vigorously handled, but could not threaten. ROYAL ECHO set a fast pace and maintained a clear lead, but ran out badly at the stretch turn, losing all chance. SCOTCH SAGE was always outrun. HOT MAN, steadied for five-eighths, went to the inside vhen working his way to the leaders and made a stout bid leaving the back stretch, then was held perfectly safe. J. HAL, hustled to hold his position, got into a short lead, but gave way readily in the last five-sixteenths. HIGH BLAME closed stoutly. PURPLE DAWN began tiring, after three-quarters.
