Agent Goldie Mitchell has everything his * own way as far as the leading rider at the meeting is concerned. Mitchells boys, ap- 1 prentice Leonard Bowers and jockey Carson c Kirk, are running one-two, the former having ten wins to his credit, while Kirk has scored with eight of his mounts. This * standing includes racing of Friday, April 21. * j Rocco Palladino, who handled the good t router Little Beans when that fellow was pointing for the Kentucky Derby several years back, came down from Boston, Mass., J to inspect the stallion. Little Beans is now standing at Alan T. Clarkes Huntingdon ■ Farm, Clarksville, Md. I Al Bocson, formerly one of the better riders around the Maryland half-mile i tracks, is now with the U. S. Army in New J Guinea. Jesse Bennett, custodian of the i jockey room, received a letter from Bocson this morning. 1 Howard Bruces Jay Jay, a real Maryland s favorite, came out of his last race in a lame 1 condition but will not be retired as has been rumored. Trainer Johnny Forbes expects to have the 11 -year-old back to the races in the near future. I Trainer R. L. "Peg" Hanna has shipped Incoming, Lady Gremlin and Rockwall, three of the OSullivan Farm colorbearers. I to Narragansett Park. Crowther, who is under contract to Charles "Red" Reynolds, conditioner for Mrs. S. S. Zell, has only six more j winners to ride before being deprived of the five-pound apprentice allowance. Jockey E. Campbell, who can do around 102 pounds, turned his book over Tommy Kelly for the meeting. Starter Jim Milton has added Ticky Otis his schooling list. Ticky Otis was a beaten favorite in Tuesdays last race when he broke sluggishly and then came from far back to finish second. Benny Marshio, veteran half-mile rider, was an arrival after being turned down in Florida by the U. S. Navy. Marshio will remain here until the end of the meeting and then take in the Wheeling Downs meeting. O. T. Dubassoff , veteran trainer, shipped ■ John M. Schiff s Shotlo here to compete in the Jervis Spencer Steeplechase Handicap. This race, carrying an added value of 0,000, will be contested on Friday, May 5. The stewards have issued instructions to the entry clerks to refuse the entries of Prologue and Brinklow until further notice. Both horses have been postward once at the meeting. Kelly Childress, a recent arrival from Miami, has taken over the book of jockey Martin Bletzacker. Trainer Charles M. Feltner, whose stable is at Laurel, has first call on the services of Bletzacker. Trainer O. T. Dubassoff made the trip from New York to saddle John S. Chiffs Shotlo for Fridays steeplechase event. This jumpers main objective at the meeting is the Jervis Spencer Steeplechase Handicap. Mrs. duPont Weirs Spring Dell and Gobi Desert, both eligible for the Aberdeen Stakes, have failed to respond to training and have been shipped back to the farm by trainer Jim Ryan. Kelly Childress, well known jockey agent, got in this morning from Miami. The boys around the secretarys office accused "Confidential" of having walked up. Arthur White, who trains one of the largest stables on the grounds, added another jumper to his string, shipping Leechlade from Middleburg, Va. Misrule, a twelve-year-old gelding that Tommy Bonham trains for Charles R. Fleischman, was sent here today from a nearby farm. Trainer Guy Lunsford has shipped Mrs. R. Feinbergs Question Man back to the farm at Chester, Pa. Harry Lunsford, brother of Guy, trainer of the Mrs. R. Feinberg stable, is critically ill in a San Antonio hospital.
