ROCKWOOD LOU, well handled but raced a trifle wide and in hand to the final quarter, reached the lead under light urging, lost command for a brief time, but held on gamely and, returning to the front as LATE THREAD weakened, drew out in the closing strides. LATE THREAD, not persevered with well back, raced into the lead on the inside, but weakened in the last furlong. SIBLEY started up on the final turn, swung to the extreme outside in the stretch and hung after nearing the leaders, but came again. VANFLAG was held safe. DONNA BRAND, raced wide, was under urging before reaching the final half mile and gave way fast through the stretch. CHERRY WINE had early speed, then faltered suddenly and was not ridden out.
