Harry 0. Seen in Repeat Score at Detroit Track Gains Easy Six-Length Verdict Under Novice Rider G. Monson FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 3. — Improved weather conditions today aided in bringing out a crowd of some 14,000 Motor City patrons to the Woodward Avenue course but the eight-race program was decided over a dull track. Two good attractions were on the card, the Col. John Packard Purse, a six furlongs sprint for four-year-olds and upward, and the Aristides Purse, a one mile and one-sixteenth test for horses from the same age divisions. Albert Wellmans silks were carried successfully in the Initial six furlong sprint, Harry O. taking an easy six lengths decision over Vincent Ciceros Dot O. Dash, second by a length before J. C. MacKenzies Doc Yak. F. L. Harts Dental Chair, the favorite for the dash, wound up fourth in the field of eight starters after making the pace to the stretch. Dental Chair bore out so badly on the final turn that he lost whatever chance he might have had for attaining major honors. Harry O. was ridden by novice jockey George Monson, of New Orleans, and under contract to the Detroit-owned Wellman establishment. Well-placed from the start. Monson kept Harry O.. within striking distance of the leaders to the final quarter, and sending his charge through next the rail, permitted the victor to draw out to an impressive triumph. Dot O Dash finished determinedly to save the place award over Doc Yak, who turned in an even effort in earning the short end of the purse. Harry O., winner of his previous start, was third choice, paying 0.10 in the tote after stepping the three-quarters over the slow strip in 1:11%.
