Sanborn; bred by Valdina Farms, Inc. WENT TO POST-5.301. OFF AT 5:31 CENTRAL STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate for all but BOB MURPHY. Won driving; second and third the same. BOB MURPHY, much the best, stumbled at the start, worked his way forward steadily to the stretch and, overcoming interference when forced wide by BRIGHT STEEL, outlasted the latter while under vigorous handling. BRIGHT STEEL went to the front early, was permitted to establish a long lead, drifted out while tiring during the stretch run and could not withstand the winner, although easily best of the others. CASTEL BEAU saved ground throughout, then failed to rally when set down for the drive. PETROSE GIRL could not keep up after showing early speed. HYPERHELIO was far back throughout and would not extend himself in the muddy footing. RISKAIRE never was prominent and had no mishap. BROOM RIDE was done early. OFF AT 6:08 EASTERN STANDARD TIME. Start good from stall gate. Won easily; second and third driving. SYRIAN BOY, slow to begin and in hand to the stretch, came to the extreme outside for the drive and, responding readily when shaken up, disposed of TOP SERGEANT and won going away. TOP SERGEANT, much used racing ANNE AGAIN into defeat, held a short lead when settled in the stretch, but was not good enough for the winner. ANNE AGAIN went to the front early, gave way to TOP SERGEANT after three furlongs and held on willingly under punishment. SEAPAR came to the inside for the drive, but could not threaten when hard urged. GOLD BILL, in close quarters after the start, moved up boldly approaching the stretch, then weakened. TOUGH TARGET was outrun. SUN BY was done early. DOOR-YOCK could not keep up and did not like the muddy track.
