Lind-heimer yesterday in a special press preview. Inactive since 1942 after which its scheduled meetings were operated at Washington Park, Arlington is just about ready to throw open its gates on June 17 for its 36-day meeting. This will be followed by Washington Park and the two tracks, both under Lindheimers supervision, will offer a co-ordinated stakes program that calls for more than ,000,000 in purse distribution. Expend More Than 00,000 Arlington, as it stands today, is gorgeous. More than 00,000 in improvements have transformed the plant from a picture of structural beauty to something that could rightly be described as the last word. Special emphasis has been placed on comfort for the public. Sections of the grandstand and clubhouse that formerly obscured even vision and freedom of movement, have been removed; new enlarged air conditioned restaurants have been created, numerous rest rooms and lounges for both ladies and men, new offices for executives of the track and racing officials, a modernized press box, a completely renovated post and paddock club that features air conditioning throughout, a new track kitchen for stable help and horsemen, and scores of other impressive features. With the main division of the fabulous Calumet Farm stable and more than 100 horses from other leading stables already on the grounds, the track is beginning to take on a mid-season atmosphere. Units from the East and West are pouring in daily to augment the stables already campaigning in this sector.
