Detroit Meeting Off to Excellent Start FAIR GROUNDS, Detroit, Mich., June 3.— The Woodward Avenue racing grounds is off to a very successful 1946 start despite the fact that an "off" track prevailed here for the major portion of the first seven days of the current season. During the initial seven days the mutuel handle reached ,552,918, and the city-state tax deduction from that amount was 72,233.44. The attendance on Memorial Day shattered all previous Fair Grounds records, 30,340 patrons jamming the plant for the holiday sport.
