Armed Is Assigned 130 For Stars and Stripes Must Give Fighting Step Eight Pounds in 0,000 July 4 Race ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, HI., June 28. The Calumet Farms Armed, who finished a game-going third in the I 0,000 Equipoise Mile here Wednesday after being blocked at the head of the ! stretch, has been assigned 130 pounds, top-weight, in the 0,000 Stars and Stripes Handicap, which will be decided over the mile and one-eighth distance on July 4. The big gelding, who has lost only one race at a distance over a mile this year, will as usual, be spotting his rivals chunks of weight, although he does drop two pounds from the 132 he carried in the Equipoise. The Murlogg Farms Fighting Step, winner of the Clang Handicap here, but who failed to show his usual good performance in the Equipoise, is regarded as the next best horse by racing secretary Fred Burton. Fighting Step gets in with 122. Equifox,, who is in the midst of another comeback, and who finished with a grand burst of speed in the Equipoise after being away slowly, gets in under 116 pounds, while the Woolford Farms Historian, 115, and Witch Sir, 115, rate next in line.
