Hurst Philpot Appointed C. S. Howard Stable Trainer HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood, Calif.. June 28. Charles S. Howard, California breeder and sportsman, today announced the appointment of Hurst Philpot as head trainer of his stable following the resignation of J. H. "Bud" Stotler due to ill health. Philpot will assume his duties on Monday and has resigned from all other interests. Noble Threewitt, youthful trainer only recently discharged from the Army after extensive combat service in Europe, has been engaged by the Conejo Ranch to replace Philpot, and no trainer has been announced as yet by Miss Ethel Hill, owner of War Knight, a post from which Philpot also resigned in order to devote his entire time to the Howard interests.
