EMPTY PLATE, in a contending position on the outside from the beginning, disposed of BRACE PLAY to take command in the stretch and held sway under pressure. BETTY GRABLE, unable to keep up early, secured room on. the Inside through the stretch and finished fast. BRACE PLAY took command after the break, was steadied in front and gave way to . the winner, but held on well. ARIEL IMAGE lacked early speed, but closed some ground in the final quarter. TEMPLET could not keep up after showing early speed. MIBOB raced forwardly on the inside, but quit. Overweight Betty Grable, 1 pound; Templet, 2. Brace Play claimed by H. Josephart. TRIMDEM, away slowest, moved into closer contention quickly on the outside on the turn, took command in the stretch .and drew out easily. GHOST HUNT, never far back, moved up stoutly on the inside through the stretch and finished well. PUFFED UP had good early speed, took a clear lead on the turn and saved ground, but tired. MACWILL passed tired horses. BRIGHT TRACE had early speed to take a short lead, but flattened out badly., WAR WINE could not keep up. Overweight Macwill, 1 pound. SIXTH RACE 3-4 MILE out of chute. LUCKY B., a forward factor from the beginning, was steadied off the early pace, went to the outside for the stretch drive and finished fast to draw clear. HENNY PENNY had speed to take a short lead, was steadied in front when clear and saved ground, but could not withstand the winner. ANTHEM forced the early pace of HENNY PENNY and held on well. LIGHTFOOT LADY broke fast, but was not hurried while on the outside, improved her position gradually and finished stoutly. BENEVA raced forwardly and evenly in a good effort. ROBERT F. could not engage the leaders. NOD showed nothing. SUPER MARINES was never prominent in a dull effort. Overweight Happy Joan, 2 pounds. SEVENTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. OLD SMOKEY was not hurried early, improved his position on the outside in the backstretch, vent around the leaders easily when turning into the stretch, then drew out and was not threatened. SUNNY BETTY, sluggish early, moved into closer contention after a half mile and closed fast, but was no match for the winner. ELEANOR VAN trailed the field for a half mile, then gradually moved up thereafter and finished gamely. SQUEEZIT was unable to engage the leaders early, but finished well. CLIP CLOP had early speed while racing in the lead with SKI DAD, but quit. SKI DAD was used up maintaining the lead and flattened out badly. EIGHTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. VALDINA FIND was not hurried early, improved his position on the inside on the turn, went to the front while saving ground entering the stretch and withstood a stiff drive from PAT FULLER. The latter was prominently placed from the beginning, went to the outside for the drive and, finishing fast, was wearing down the winner. VALDINA SENTRY trailed the field for a half mile, then gradually improved his position between horses. OUR ALL, far back until reaching the stretch, passed tired horses. KANTAR RUN had early speed while on the outside, but was used up trying to get to the front and weakened. OLDOMWOOD, under stout restraint early, flattened out when called upon.
