EDGAR B., quickest to begin, was well handled when unable to run with 0LGA S., responded to pressure and wore down the leader inside the final sixteenth and drew out. OLGA S. opened a long early lead, set a swift pace for a half-mile, then weakened under urging. CLOUDY WEATHER improved his position steadily on the outside. FLAMING HIGH was for-wardly placed under light urging, then flattened out in the drive. SAYONARA. in closest attendance of the early pace, tired in the stretch. PRIVATE HOWIE had no mishap. PSYCHIC RATE was unable to keep up. SABLE STAR was sent along at a fast rate to open a clear lead leaving the backstretch, was taken out into the better footing and held on gamely. AIR BRAKES, unable to run with the leader early, closed strongly under steady urging. TWO DAY AIR broke alertly, was very poorly handled in the first quarter, was allowed to change course going to the far turn, then, taken in hand, closed courageously under pressure while on the inside. MUG was not good enough. MERRICK BELLE showed nothing. XCITABLE had brief speed. LINEMAN was outrun. EASY AL broke alertly, was unable to shake off DAUNTEDID on the turn, lost command momentarily, responded to pressure to regain the lead and was under steady pressure to hold WAR RAIDER safe. The latter swung to the outside entering the stretch and closed strongly under pressure. CHUCKALOT, forwardly placed on the outside, raced well through the final stages. ON THE WAY, unable to keep up in the first quarter, saved ground and closed with a determined rush. DAUNTEDID quit. CABBAGETOWN was outrun. FOURTH RACE 1 3-16 MILES. WALLER, alowed to settle into best stride, moved into contention leaving the backstretch, came between horses to gain command and was not in danger thereafter. NE0TRIST, forwardly placed, was taken back off the pace, kept on the inside, then made a weak rally through the final furlong. IS I AINT assumed command after six furlongs, then tired. OAKMONT raced wide while improving his position, but was not good enough. MAGNESIUM, in hand for six furlongs, was forced extremely wide entering the stretch, then failed to rally. FLEET SISTER was not good enough. SNOWLINE showed nothing. ONE TO TWO dropped back steadily in a dull effort. Overweight— Fleet Sister, 1 pound. ENSIGN MARY B , steadied back of the pace to the final turn, rallied readily when set down, swerved to the inside, engaged in a bumping duel with PORT SAID, then outfinished the latter. PORT SAID set the pace under strong restraint, saved ground, came out from the inside when challenged, was straightened and held on gamely. BILOXI BAY, in hand while close up, moved to the front when ready, was tiring when caught between ENSIGN MARY B. and PORT SAID and forced rider to take up sharply. ABOYNE went evenly. ISLE DE PINE was forced to lose ground on the first turn when carried wide and never recovered LORD CAPRICE showed nothing. ANVELT, sent up fast on the outside to gain good early position, took command when DAVIES SISTER weakened, held a clear advantage while saving ground, was roused when challenged and closed gamely. LAND CRUISER, close up throughout, rallied in the stretch and was catching the winner. FLOS HERBERT, not hustled while settling into best stride, closed stoutly ARIDISICAL, well handled early, moved through on the inside to draw closest to the leader entering the stretch, went slightly wide, then tired. AERIAL GUNNER, outrun to the final turn responded to pressure to close strongly with a rush and nipped IMA PEARL. The latter, in hand while following close to the leaders, went between horses to gain command, held a comfortable lead when his rider looked back and, thinking the race was won, was easing his mount. LUCIAS SUN showed good speed in settinq the pace and held on gamely. BRAVE BID moved closest to the leaders nearing the furlong pole, but was not good enough REST AWHILE went evenly.
