Thirteen to Seek Brown Wisdom Jesting Fox, Yaeger Entry Of Valdina Perion and Calm Seas Leading Contenders HAWTHORNE, Cicero, 111., May 14.— While tomorrows card at Hawthorne caters to the lesser lights of the local racing colony as the handicap division remains on the sidelines in preparation for the Saturday program, racing secretary Lawrence C. Bogenschutz has been able to assemble eight very representative races. Topping the offerings is the Brown Wisdom Purse, dash of six and a half furlongs for four-year-olds and older horses, and here a field of 13 evenly matched entrants will vie for a purse of ,500. A good field of three-year-olds will meet under ,000 claiming tags in the six and a half furlongs fifth race, while the two-year-olds in the five furlongs fourth race have been priced at ,500. In the headliner, Willard T. Beezleys Jesting Fox appears to have an excellent chance to make amends for his defeat in the Crete Handicap, opening day feature on Monday. In that venture the hard-hitting son of Fighting Fox finished third, less than a length back of such a good winner as Jack S. L. Jesting Fox has been consistently close in his local campaign at Sportsmans Park, where he was second in all three essays, which were the Speed and Cicero Handicaps and the Englewood Purse. Sugar Lump Won Last Out Hilltop Farm will have stout representation in the Brown Wisdom in Sugar Lump, who gave evidence of present fitness by a clever victory at last asking The daughter of Epithet should retain that form to give a good account of herself again tomorrow. Perhaps the most formidable opponents for Jesting Fox will turn up in the C U. Yaeger pair, Valdina Perion and Calm Seas. The former is on the "also eligible" list, but has a chance to move into the race. As a parting gesture at New Orleans Fair Grounds. Valdina Perion scampered home over a muddy track to win easily and he may find the same track condition prevailing in the Blackwood. In two starts at Sportsmans Park. Calm Seas was second on each occasion and should not be far away at the end of the test. Southway Stables Alar made his first seasonal appearance in the Pansy Walker Purse on Monday and was able to garner third honors. The son of Alfred the Great displayed good early speed in that venture, and may improve by the effort. Ben Fogel-son will be represented by Credentials, and the Identify gelding is not overmatched with competition of this caliber. Third in his race on the opening day of the meeting and a good second in his previous outing, he could earn a portion of this purse if favored by good racing fortune. Eliza Jane will carry the silks of Mrs. James L. Chesney and this mare has been carefully prepped for a race like this. Her training moves have been satisfactory and she comes up to this engagement thoroughly freshened up. Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Harris have named Attrition and the son of Maeda is another who has done all asked of him in morning trials. R. Cutros Free Citizen displayed little at Sportsmans Park to recommend him, but has a victory at Oaklawn Park to his credit. James Emerys Toy Bomb may be better than-generally thought, and his three consecutive victories at Gulfstream Park compel serious consideration for his chance here. Feather-Bob, making his initial local appearance, brings a creditable record from his Maryland campaign, previous to which the son of Sun Beau accounted for two races at Oaklawn Park. M. Follmars Clara Jean is recommended by a victory in muddy going at New Orleans, and J. V. Maggios Breath Taker, who completes the field, is an arrival from Kentucky, but has shown little to recommend him.
