Anvelt Narrow Coral Reef Victor at Suffolk Downs SUFFOLK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 14. — The Cherry Oca Stables Anvelt, * a gelding who had indicated his fine condition with a pair of impressive recent f races, responded to an energetic ride by the youthful apprentice, Jimmy Huggins, I to capture the Coral Reef Purse by the smallest possible margin here this afternoon before an excited crowd of 13,292, who were treated to several other close finishes during the afternoon. W. W. Waters Land Cruiser proved the main threat in the drive, but his belated rush just fell short, as A. Shlagers Flos Herbert took the show from C. F. Herrmanns Aridisical. I Form continued on the spotty side, with Easy Al, victor in the third dash, being the only successful choice through the first six races. Anvelt, a four-year-old gelded son of Sweeping Light — Ann Victory, raced over the mile and a sixteenth in 1:48, over a track that was made slow by overnight rains. The weather returned to early season form, with biting winds chasing many of the patrons to cover.
