SHASTA MAN, forwardly placed from the beginning, was able to secure room on the inside on the turn, moved into command quickly when roused and drew out to win with something in reserve. PARI-JOE, improved his position steadily, went to the outside for the drive, closed strongly, but was no match for the winner. WOBBLE PUMP moved up steadily through the stretch when called upon and finished gamely. SUSAN E., a strong factor from the beginning, weakened under pressure. GYPSY TEARS moved into closer contention in the stretch after racing sluggishly early. TOPIC broke fast, but fell back steadily while racing on the outside. QUEEN BLUE could not keep up. BETTY VAN, much the best, lacked early speed, was blocked when attempting to come through on the far turn, found room between horses in the stretch and, finishing fast, drew away to win easily. KHAMSEENS BOY trailed to the stretch turn, was driven through en the inside and finished fast in a dead-heat for place with SONS STYLE. The latter was unhurried early, moved around the outside readily when roused entering the stretch and lasted for a dead-heat for the place. IN SILVER was hustled into a clear lead, saved ground, but flattened out. VERO LUMEN raced evenly. CYNICAL MAID could not keep up. NICKS BABY quit after flashing early speed. G. I. LADY was unable to keep up and was eased when beaten. HENNY PENNY was able to outrun MY JULIE and took a clear lead while held off the rail, then held SUPER MARINES safe. The latter was forwardly placed from the beginning and closed strongly under punishment. MY JULIE saved ground while lacing closest to the winner, but weakened in the drive. OLD SILK lacked early speed, but closed a good gap. PAPER CLIP made a feeble bid in the stretch, but could not threaten. VEGAS JIM could not keep up. AFTER EIGHT fell back steadily. LEAVENWORTH was steadied within reach of the early leaders, moved up strongly on the outside in the stretch and wore down MRS. VALENTI in the drive. MRS. VALENTI was steadied closest to the pace of PRINCESS RENA to the turn, disposed of the latter to take a clear lead in the stretch and fought it out willingly with the winner. MAY FLY, never far back, responded well when roused to move around the outside in the stretch and closed well. HOLLYMAN, slow as usual early and racing off the rail, made up some ground in the stretch, but was not good enough. PRINCESS RENA, fastest away, was sent into a clear lead, saved ground, but quit. FOUR TENS raced in closest pursuit of the winner most of the way, could not threaten her and was under pressure to hold QUIBS BALLY. The latter was very sluggish in settling into stride, but closed with good speed. TED MOSQUERO, unable to match the speed of the early leaders, secured room on the inside to finish well.
