Beau Chevel Sets Record In Adelaide Cup Victory ADELAIDIE, Australia, May 14 Reuters — A record crowd of 42,000 saw J. Roachs Beau Chevel, by Beau Pere out of Cuddle, win the Adelaide Cup here today in the record time of 3:23% for the two miles in South Australia. N. Spencers Blankenburg, winner of the race in 1945, was second, one and one-half lengths behind, with W. Dubleaths The Monk, third of 15 runners. Beau Chevel carried 120 pounds and started at 3 to 1. He finished third in the race last year, and was afterwards purchased by J. Roach from New Zealand. Beau Chevels jockey, R. Medhurst. gained his third Adelaide Cup success.
