BILLY BUMPS had speed to race with GOLDEN MAN in the lead and on the inside, took a clear lead in the early stretch, but had to be kept under pressure to the end. UNCONDITIONAL, very sluggish while trailing early, moved into contention on the outside in the stretch and closed fast. MISS FLUFF raced evenly, but was unable to improve her position while finishing gamely. GOLDEN MAN, fastest away and off the rail for good footing, took a short lead on the backstretch, gave way to the winner on the stretch turn, then would not extend himself. LADY MAYFLOWER was steadied closest to the pace of GALLANT FOOT while racing off the rail, drove up on the outside to take command in the late stretch, then held MY MARGIE safe under pressure. MY MARGIE improved her position steadily, was taken to the inside for the drive and finished stoutly. GALLANT FOOT was sent into a clear lead at once, met the bid of the winner stoutly, but was not good enough. SHIRT BAND was unable to engage the leaders. BEAU FIDDLER trailed throughout. SAN YET, slow as usual early, moved into closer contention on the final turn, but was unable to threaten the winner when Molbert lost his left stirrup iron. LLOYDS was under restraint while racing back of the pace and on the outside, responded to pressure in the stretch, but could not threaten the first two. VICE ADMIRAL trailed to the stretch while on the outside and passed tiring horses. POWDERED MILK had speed to take command for a half mile, but flattened out. SAKU could not keep up.
