New England News and Notes SUPFOIiK DOWNS, East Boston, Mass., May 30. The Frances Stables Dons Count has been added to the string trained by M. Level. The six-year-old son of Reign Count was wintered at Fortuna Farm, near Andover, Mass. Leonard Jankowski vanned his Bonanza gelding, Ephriam, from Fortuna Farm to Rockingham Park, where the seven-year-old will be put back in training. W. A. Kelleys van transported 19 head and a pony belonging to Mrs. Tilyou Christopher to Atlantic City. Heading the consignment was Bel Reigh, capable handicap performer. C. F. Hermann, owner of Her-Del Farm at Middletown, Conn., who has a large string at Suffolk Downs, will present, for the third consecutive year, a two-day horse show on his breeding farm, May 31 and June 1. Maj. John Godfrey, Army ace flyer and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, and his wife, the former Joan Beattie, have a two-year-old, Linwood Harry, racing at Suffolk Downs. The Godfreys are preparing to enlarge their stable. Trainer Sidney Bernstein has announced that apprentice Leo Connelly, under contract to Bernstein, has left his employ without permission and requests owners and trainers not to harbor the lad. Ralph Lentini reports that his good filly Romanette has been placed in training at Suffolk Downs. The juvenile daughter of Roman came out of a race at Bowie with bucked shins, after a highly successful winter campaign at the Fair Grounds. JockeyBobby Bernhardt has severed his connection with the Joe Camac Stable and has joined H. C. Wolfe. Trainer L. G. "Buster" Bedwell has gone to his home at Laurel, Md., to be at his mothers bedside, who is reported seriously ill. Harold Simmons has taken over the Bedwell charges temporarily. Harold C. Genter, Minneapolis sportsman and owner of a large string of horses here, is a Suffolk Downs visitor, and is being shown around by his trainer, Melvin Calvert. Luck-Flag, a non-starter, popped an osselet and trainer E. E. Miles sent the Flag Pole filly to Halls Farm, Nedfield, Mass., to be turned out. Charles Ginsberg, of Cleveland, Ohio, owner of a modest string racing under the guidance of Jack W. Webb, arrived this morning by plane from his home. He plans to remain for the balance of the meeting. Howard "Red" Crawford has been appointed agent for Fred Wyses stable and will make riding engagements for W. L. Taylor, contract rider for the Houston, Texas, sportsman. Trainer O. L. Foster transferred six, of his thoroughbreds to Narragansett Park this morning. The remainder of 14 head that have been stabled here will join the vanguard later in the week.
