PHARNED, under restraint while remaining within striking distance of the early pace, responded willingly to urging to wrest the lead approaching the furlong pole and drew out in the final sixteenth of a mile. ANAKO, off very slowly, was rushed up to gain a contending position after a quarter and rallied well on the turn, but failed to menace the leader in the closing drive. LETTY improved her position gradually and showed a good effort. FAIR BID was hustled to the front at once and opened up a clear lead while saving ground, but faltered steadily in the closing furlong. ROCKET SHELL was well placed for a half mile. DOUBLE RISK pressed the pace to the quarter pole, then tired. CATEYES failed to extend himself. WAR SWORD raced closest to the leader from the start, lodged a bold challenge on the inside in the early stretch, but was not good enough. RIVER PLAY was unable to improve his position. FEFFIE drew into a clear lead through the opening quarter, came very wide in the stretch, responded willingly when roused near the eighth pole and drew out in the concluding strides. FLYING METEOR was a forward factor from the start, saved ground to lodge a strong challenge in the early stretch, but failed to menace the winner in the drive. SPRING SONG was always prominently placed and had no excuse. NEED LUCK was slow to settle in best stride and caught tiring horses in the final quarter. STANLEY was hustled to the front at the start from the outside position, drew out to a clear lead on the turn and just lasted under strong handling to hold MY ANGELA safe. The latter was slow to settle into best stride, came through on the inside to improve position in the early stretch and was gradually wearing the winner down. VALDINA MATH was In a contending position at the head of the stretch and weakened slightly in the drive. GRAND DESTINY was well placed early, lost ground slightly on the turn and rallied mildly in the closing furlong. ALISON PETERS was rushed up to press the pace entering the stretch, then quit. BABY EDITH, allowed to race on own courage early, circled rivals entering the stretch and closed resolutely. MT. AIRY improved position on the outsids entering the stretch, ducked into the rail near the sixteenth post, but was unable to menace the leaders in the closing drive. NELLA JONES was hustled to the front at the start, opened up a clear lead while saving ground, but weakened steadily in the final quarter. ROUGH NEWS raced evenly. GOOSE FEATHER was never a factor. BROAD DAYLIGHT went evenly. PELOPS was unable to improve his position. MIRBRIAR raced closest to the pace to the quarter pole, then tired. GALLANT CHANCE quit badly in the final quarter mile.
