STORM KING was hustled along from the start, responded when placed to pressure in the late stages, wore down NOTHEAD and won drawing away. The latter was hustled into command, showed speed and had no mishap. WEXFORD began slowly and finished fast on the inside. FARMINGTON was under pressure in the late stages, but jumped a puddle entering the final furlong. ALAS ZEVIAL was well up early, then quit LITTLE GAUCHO had a flash of early speed. HUMAYA was taken in hand when outrun, improved her position in the stretch, wore down ROYAL LOVER and drew away. ROMANCER improved his position on the inside in the early stages and finished fast. ROYAL LOVER was sent into a safe lead and had early speed, then quit. NEWSPAPER was rushed up fast on the outside and finished well. FLARING HOME showed a good effort. WHATUCALLUM had no mishap. THATS MY BOY quit. PATROL had no early speed. GALLACHA went wide on the stretch turn. COL WIGGINS quit. ALBATROSS was sent into command after the start, was steadied along while showing speed, responded when roused and drew away to have speed in reserve. HIGH TINT -was bothered by ZADOC going to the second fence, recovered and moved up to finish well; but could not menace the winner. GREAT FLARE, on the outside from the beginning, came with a belated rush in the final quarter mile. DEIMOS ran in spots while jumping well. ZADOC was bearing in all the way. GESTAPO dwelt slightly at the start, moved up on the outside rounding the stretch turn, was taken up and eased to the inside--when BEN LEWIS started out, responded to urging and finished well. GAY SONG was sent through on the inside at the stretch turn and finished with good courage. JOHNNY DIMICK was outrun in the early stages and, under pressure in the stretch run, finished with a rush. Jockey Mehrtens was hit in the eye by a clot of dirt in the run. MARBLE ARCH was outrun for the first part, but made up ground steadily. ASSAULT was kept closer up in the first quarter than usual, then dropped back under restraint, began to improve his position rounding the far turn, came to the outside of NATCHEZ in the stretch run, responded to pressure and assumed command to draw away. NATCHEZ was hustled along smartly after the start and, going to the far turn, drew away into a safe lead while saving ground, but could not hold the winner, although holding the others safe. TALON was outrun in the early stages and rounding the stretch turn, responded when roused and finished fast. STYMIE, as usual, outrun in the early stages, began to improve his position rounding to the stretch turn, but flattened in the late stages, then hung. RICO MONTE was in near pursuit of the early pace, but failed to respond when urged. VERTIGO II. was never a formidable factor. BRIGHT SWORD was close up in the early stages, then tired.
