Intermission Repeater On Thistle Down Card Leads From Start to Finish as Loutey Pegs Pace Throughout RANDALL PARK, North Randall, Ohio, May 12. — Trainer Edward E. New saddled the first two-time winner at this five-day-old meeting today, when he sent forth Robert Pools fleet mare, Intermission, for a front-running triumph in the Columbus Purse. Time for the five and one-half furlongs was 1:06, the fastest posted for the distance thus far this season. Jockey James Baird, who scored two victories on yesterdays card, was astride the six-year-old chestnut daughter of Gerald and Stim-ulude. She was sent to the post a slight favorite in the betting, and paid .00. The Columbus was a two-horse affair from beginning to end, with George Y. Bookers second choice, Loutey, the only real contender. She slightly diminished Intermissions margin in the final drive, but remained a length and a quarter behind. Earl H. Moodys Sildonna was better than two lengths farther back and third, with H. Fowlers Sky Plane finishing a distant fourth. The weather for todays program was ideal, marking a pleasant change from the cold and windy conditions prevailing the first days of the meeting. The attendance did not show any of the anticipated increase, with a small estimated gathering of 3,500 on hand. Intermission took command at the start and under hustling tactics by Baird, quickly established a two-length lead, which she maintained evenly under steady pressure. Loutey was next away at the start, and followed closest throughout, while a group comprised of Ida A., Siss Advice, and Sildonna battled closely for position some three lengths behind. Sildonna responded for the final drive to safely put away her contention, but she along with the remainder were never any menace to the top pair.
