, i ■ Four Leaf Clover Purse Lures Seven Veteran Mare, Monfahn, Likely to Be Given Edge Over Blue Agent at Cicero SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., May 12. — Tomorrow being Friday the 13th, and racing secretary and handicapper Horace Wade being possibly on the superstitious side, in addition to being an "idea" man of note, he had attempted to counteract any manifestation of bad luck by titling a pair of features, the Four Leaf Clover and the Rabbits Foot. Both events are to be run under allowance conditions with former scheduled for seven furlongs and the other at a mile and one -sixteenth. The Four Leaf Clover carries a purse of ,500, which makes it slightly more attractive. Booked to start are Red Ginger, owned by the estate of B. B. Johnson; J. W. Snider s Blue Agent, Miss Lydia Webers Sid-dons, Marion H. VanBergs Monfalon, J. F. Becks Blenette, J. Simon and R. Wilkinsons Chance Bea and H. Belks Wise Listo. Probable favorite is Monfalon, an eight-year-old mare who has been threatening to win a race at the meeting. The speedy daughter of Spanish Play — Morning Fair, by Midway, has started twice here and on both occasions she displayed keen speed, only to tire in the late stages. Her last was against such speedsters as Little Bobbles and Superwolf . She pressed the issue early and at the finish was locked in a dead heat for the show with Blue Agent, who again looms as a principal foe tomorrow. Finished Fast in Last Prior to that she finished second to War Toro and had several capable sprinters strung out in back of her. Blue Agent is a rather inconsistent sort, but when ever he has decided to give his best he can be a tough one to crack, even though running against the best here. He lacked speed in his recent test against Monfalon, but closed with a good rush and probably would have been third in another stride. His best race of the year came in the ,000 Chicago Handicap, when he gained the lead in the stretch and then tired. He was beaten only four lengths at the wire by Late Thread, the accepted Queen of the local course; Bodens Pal and Super-wolf. In back of him were Mae Agnes, Ration Book, Park Pigeon, Caillou Rouge and Approval, either of whom would be favorite in such a field as that competing in the Four Leaf Clover. Chance Bea, a four-year-old filly who was cut out to be a stakes competitor, but who has been something of a disappointment, probably is a great deal better than her last race indicates. She was well beaten in a ,000 claimer won by Del-hannah, but was away poorly and did not get into her best strides until it was too late. Her best races last year were shown in Detroit. Wise Listo is making his first start of the meeting. The four-year-old son of Listo — Wise Beauty last raced during the meetings at Phoenix, Ariz., where he competed against the best horses there.
