ARMELLE pressed the early pace from the outside, responded readily to pressure in the last eighth to wear down BESITA while bearing in and was disqualified and placed out of the money. BESITA wrested command from between horses after a quarter, raced head and head with ARMELLE to the last sixteenth, then was forced to ease back when in close quarters. BLUE BALLAD broke slowly, found racing room on the rail inside the last quarter to close with a belated rush and was also in close quarters near the end. REL0UP was well placed from the beginning, but failed to rally when called on. GARDEN WEEK had good speed for a quarter and tired. HELPIT was never a factor. MELS BELLS ana AP0CAPE were outrun. FIGHTING HARD disposed of KEEP WATCH after a quarter, drew cut while saving ground, but commenced bearing out when put to a drive in the stretch and was best. KEEP WATCH, taken under steadying restraint while being outrun early, was brought out on the turn, came back to the inside when set down for the drive, but was not good enough. HARD FACTS rallied from the outside after a half mile, lost additional ground entering the stretch and weakened under punishment. SAM BERNARD made up some ground in the iate stages. COMANCHE PEAK, slow to begin as usual, was brought to the outside on the stretch turn and made a mild rally. BLUNT REMARK gave way suddenly after racing prominently for five-eighths. MINNEAPOLIS outsprinted hjs opposition from the start, saved ground while being steadied rounding the turn, responded readily to punishment when challenged in the stretch and held his advantage while drifting out. SHIFTY MAE pressed the pace from the start, also saved ground, moved up boldly under pressure in the early stretch, but had nothing left for the drive. RULING TIME, slow to begin, was hard held to the last quarter, came to the outside for the drive, but was not good enough. J0N0 was never a serious factor. BEAUSY could not keep up early. EAST LIGHT was through early. LAURANIA was well placed early, but failed to rally when called on and came back lame. Scratched— 697523 Madgescarlett, 109. Overweight— Beausy, 1 jound. CHANCE LUCK was under energetic handling early to gain the lead while racing between horses, disposed of HOOPS CHARM under pressure inside the last eighth and held SET ASIDE safe. The latter rallied gamely under punishment after a quarter to close with a belated rush. SWEEP THE SKY was never a great distance back, drifted out from the rail while holding her position, but could not get to the top pair. HOOPS CHARM was hustled along early to gain a striking position, but gave way under punishment in the late stages. LA NAPPE was shuffled back in the jamming soon after the start. DISCONSOLATE made the early pace in hand, gave way readily to the winner but appeared best of the others. ROSEBOROUGH began sluggishly, was brought to the outside after a half and made up ground fast in the late stages. BLUE ROW made a mild rally in the early stretch, but had nothinq eft when the real racing began. FIREAGAIN gave way steadily after a quarter. NARVIK0 was never a contender. COPITO disposed of his opposition in the early stages, was steadied while saving ground to the stretch and, while drifting out in the last eighth, was easily best. CHAL JAY improved his position steadily in the run down the backstretch, came to the inside rounding the turn and, under strong handling through the last quarter, was unable to gain on the top one.
