Martin, Baltimore jockey, under suspension by the Maryland Racing Commission, yes-ng *T , terday heard six formal charges placed !j~ against him. Martin was charged with wagering on a mount other than his own J in a Laurel race and with soliciting bets. The 23-year-old jockey was charged with having wagered 00 on Shine On in the *e first race at Laurel on April 10. In this 18 event, Martin was astride Librab, who finely J" ished second, just in front of Shine On. He Ie was also charged with soliciting bets on ,n Shine On, Teddies Imp, Abstract, War ir Phar and Keep Watch. Martins suspension was announced last s£ week by H. Courtenay Jenifer, chairman of j" the racing commission. Martin was due to to ride at Garden State that day but was, *• naturally, denied permission by the New w Jersey governing body. The charges against Martin were prepared 2" by Kenneth Proctor, assistant attorney **■ general, who will also handle the case * at the scheduled hearing. Martin may, 1 if he desires, appear before the commision ,n with his attorney.
