SLEEPY HOLLOW was never far back, went to the outside for the drive and wore down APENNINE. The latter was a sharp contender from the break, took command between calls in the final furlong and just missed. BY POLLY was forwardly placed and had no excuse in a good effort. WITHOUT FEAR was slow to start. ETERNAL HERB weakened in the drive after making the pace. MARKET LETTER was outrun. JULIA G. tired. ARIELENE lost ground and tired. ON COMET had early speed and quit. SAILORS DELITE, away fastest, lacked speed to remain in command, then wore down STILL GAY and was drawing clear. The latter reached a clear advantage and came to the rail entering the turn, then faltered in the late stages. SILK QUEST was forced to lose ground on the turn. RUTH HANSON lacked speed and forced her way between horses entering the stretch to be best of the others. IN THE MARKET raced greenly. TROIA had no excuse. FAY FIRST tired. ROUND BABY was never prominent. EXCLUDED, A SCHEDULED STARTER. WAS INJURED WHEN KICKED DURING THE POST PARADE AND ORDERED WITHDRAWN. ALL WAGERS ON HER— STRAIGHT, PLACE. CONNIE RAB lacked early speed, lost some ground rounding the turn while working her way up and wore down MAXIMAL in the final strides. The latter displaced SAD ZAC from the outside and drew clear in the stretch and just missed. SONNY STIEFEL was well placed from the break and showed a good effort. SAD ZAC had early speed and faltered in the drive. CAMBETTA lacked a closing rally. HELLO PUDGY saved ground and had no excuse. BLUE WHIRL tired. BUSAGI was through early. POMOLA drew clear and came to the inside entering the first turn, was rated until entering the stretch and outgamed LADY JACOPO. The latter had to be steadied while blocked and hemmed in on the rail, found room midway of the final turn, tngaged the winner in the stretch, but was not good enough. REPRODUCTION broke slowly, went up to threaten boldly when hard put, but could not better his position in the drive. POWWOW, in close attendance of the leaders from the break, made a game bid when hard put. but could not menace the winner. DEFINITELY broke fastest, but was soon joined by the winner, held on well until the stretch and faltered. JET FLEET lacked speed and lost ground while improving position. BLUE CASE forced the pace on the outside, dropped back when bearing in and veered behindjhe leader nearing the furlong pole, was forcefully brought out and got up in the closing stride. PAPOOSE broke alertly and came to the rail upon reaching the turn, drew clear when hard put and just missed. CIGAR MAID lacked room between horses in the early stages, was guided out when clear on the turn and closed very stoutly. TINA LAZAR was forced to race wide much of the way. BLESSUSGALS had no excuse. FANCY BONNET outbroke the field, but lacked speed to remain in command and faltered in the drive. ONCE IN LOVE was knocked back on the inside nearing the turn and failed to recover. CLARA PATRICIA stumbled at the start. STERLING MAID was shuffled back shortly after the start.
