PENOCC was much used to reach the first flight, wrested command on the turn and just missed. SHREWD failed to seriously threaten NASSOON race forwardly but was not good enough. MELFORD FIRST showed speed and weakened GLUE closed w.ll.ngly. CAMPER broke tardily and was sent into close quarters along the inside leavina 9 the backstretch. BYJA COPO drew clear on the final cc turn, but was unable to resist the winner. LITTLE ROCKET saved ground while rallying, but lacked a closing m surge. FLAMING LADY failed to tfireaten. BULLHEAD weakened. TRUE DREAM seemed clear while moving to the inside soon after the start, set the pace for five furlongs and weakened. ORB raced DIRECT TIME into defeat early, turned back the challenge of BONED UP after being displaced briefly by that one, then held sway to win cleverly over ROUGH ME. The latter was always formidable and may have been a more serious threat had he not persisted in lugging in. BONED UP was bothered a bit by ROUGH ME in the early stretch REJECTION SLIP made up ground. BOSS LEAVING attained a slight lead briefly after a half mile and faltered. NINA ROSE was never a threat.
