I I 3 , J • i ? i ■ ] I 1 » 5 c i r S Lincoln Fields to Employ Five Stewards This Year Cox and Gormley Added to Staff For Meeting Opening on Tuesday Two stewards have been added to the list of officials who will serve at the Lincoln Fields meeting opening Tuesday at Washington Park. They are Teddy Cox, former Daily Racing Form correspondent, and Charles J. Gormley, who served as clerk of the scales last year. Cox is currently serving in the stand at Sportsmans Park and also will officiate at the Arlington-Washington sessions. Also returning to the Lincoln stewards stand are Jack G. Goode, William R. Dahl-strom and Samuel L. James, state steward, all three of whom served last year. Approval of officials was announced yesterday by the Illinois Racing Board. During the first week, while Goode and Gormley are serving at Churchill Downs, William Reagan and Robert McAuliffe will fill in and Emil Roehm will be a placing judge. Other placing judges during the meeting will be Ray Hoertz, Vasco Parke and Reagan. Other officials for the Lincoln meeting are Lawrence C. Bogenschutz, racing secretary and handicapper; James T. Clark, paddock judge; Frank Miller, clerk of the scales; William Cunningham, timer; Reuben White, starter, and E. A. Weidekamp, director of mutuels. Officials for the Fairmount Park spring meeting, opening May 25 for a run of 29 days, also were approved by the board. George Molesworth and Thomas McCreary will serve as stewards, while Robert P. McAuliffe will represent the state in the stewards stand. Fairmount placing judges will be Max Hoops, H. J. Ellis and L. O. DeLonchaw; patrol judges E. Roehm. D. Brown and V. Loeffler; paddock judge, F. J. Rooney; racing secretary, John J. Klucina; clerk of scales and assistant racing secretary, T. R. Hopton; starter, C. H. McMillin; identifier and timer, B. Masden; director of mutuels, R. J. Hart, and L. J. Stortz, state veterinarian.
