BLUE SAGE assumed command at once, turned back repeated challenges of NIGHT MAN and drew clear in the final furlong. NIGHT MAN held on gamely after failing to go along with the winner. CORONET STAR closed well from off the pace. SHIRLEYS PRIDE was unable to catch the early leaders, but held on well through the drive. DOBY saved ground to better late position. FIESTA weakened. CAROLINA STAR was well placed, but lacked a late rally. R0FFIE showed nothing. CHANCE BRAS quit. TRU-MISS was never prominent. The others were outrun. SCHOLARSHIP rushed boldly along the inside, was able to secure racing room as the leader bore out, assumed command and was under steady pressure to the end. 20-BO, steadied close to the pace, moved between horses to engage the leader but was not good enough. GOOD SWEEP raced close to the pace throughout and held on well. PHIL HARRlS rallied in the late stages. GAVILAN moved into command leaving the backstretch, bore out badly and had to be taken up. POSER showed nothing. ABRA had speed from the barrier, was carried wide on the far turn and failed to recover. The others were outrun. Scratched— 27839 Jean Meter, 108; 27089 At Ease, 109. CAPTAIN ARDEN went to the front at once, raced true on the turns and continued on well under intermittent urging EASY PADDY rallied entering the stretch, but was unable to reach the leader. MAMA NA WAWAE closed stoutly in the stretch and had to change course to the inside when nearly colliding with EASY PADDY. GAME LADY raced very wide on the turns. HARPOOT went evenly. SHADOWS END closed with a belated rush from off the pace. HOME JAMES forwardly placed, was unable to menace. PICT passed tiring horses. BERTHA ANN, rushed to the front before a quarter mile, was unable to match strides with the winner and retired steadily. ANDYS GLORY, well placed in the early stages, came around horses to engage the leader, responded to stout pressure and forged to the front in the final yards. IDI0 opened a comfortable lead at once, increased the margin going into the far turn, raced wide entering the stretch, lost much ground, then recovered and was closing fast at the end. U. S. BOUND came through along the inside to get the lead, but was not good enough. BEAMING LIGHT, lacking early speed, closed willingly." BIG INCH, close up after a quarter mile, flattened out when put to pressure. YOGURT slipped through along the inside to near the leaders, then faltered. GOOD MASK was outrun. The latter forced the pace, gained command entering the stretch and continued on gamely. RAMPAGEOUS established the pace for six furlongs before weakening LILLIAN W. weakened after a half mile.
