Repetoire Resumes Sophomore Campaign at Delaware Today Gets Prep for Kent Stakes * Against Alerted and Five Others in Limestone Purse By PALMER HEAGERTY Staff Correspondent DELAWARE PARK, Stanton, Del., June 11. — Mrs. Nora A. MikelTs Repetoire, winner of four consecutive spring stakes prior to his disappointing efforts in the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, resumes his three-year-old campaign tomorrow afternoon in the featured Limestone Purse. The Happy Argo — My Hattie colt meets members of his own age in a six-furlong dash which serves as a prep race for the 5,000 added; Kent Stakes, to be renewed at a mile and a sixteenth on Saturday, June 23. Repetoire had many of his sophomore rivals shaking in their plates earlier in the season when he reeled off victories in the Cherry Blossom, Experimental No. 1, Chesapeake, and Wood Memorial in rapid succession, earning in excess of 0,000. Those efforts were sufficient to earn him a starting position in the Derby, in which he raced creditably for the first mile, but found the additional two furlongs a bit beyond his capabilities. He was given another chance in the Preakness and again faded after the first mile in an effort which was a bit below his Derby race. Alfred Jenen, who has handled Repetoire remarkably well this season, is confident that his colt is one of the best in the country at distances of one -mile or less and he firmly believes that Mrs. Mikells charge will, on occasions, beat top members of the division at a mile and a sixteenth. In the Limestone, he concedes froin two to 14 pounds to his rivals. Won Preakness Prep Leading contender in the Limestone is Alerted, another colt who has Kent aspirations following a sparkling spring campaign. This Bull Lea — Hastily Yours colt, acquired last fall from the Calumet menage, has five wins, three seconds and four thirds in 15 starts. *In the Preakness Prep, he whipped Bold and was timed in 1:43% for a mile and a sixteenth, then was third to that colt and Counterpoint in the Preakness. Alerted last competed in the Jersey Stakes and was a beaten favorite when second to another Brookmeade sophomore, Steadfast, who beat him two lengths. As in that effort, and in the Laurel Stakes, Alerted will be handled by Pete McLean, which means that Repetoire loses the services of that veteran for the first time this ye£r. The remainder of the opposition, while they make up a very useful group, seem below the top pair, even at the six-furlong distance. Alan Clarke starts a twosome in Senator Joe and Ala Mowlee, each of whom has been returned victorious four times this season. Senator Joe is the more proficient of the two, having accounted for his victories in much better company. He also set the pace for Repetoire in the Chesapeake at Laurel and was beaten only four lengths while finishing fourth. Others in the dash are: William Ziegler, Jr.s Definitely, who scored two wins, a second and two thirds in five starts prior to his last outing, in which he was beaten off while trailing; Mrs. Esther duPont Weirs Koritza, a winner in 1:12 here against ,000 claimers; and William P. Foleys Sandhurst, a maiden after five starts. ,
