YOUR SUN, forced to race wide while forwardly placed, wore down GONDOLIER in the final strides. The latter, prominent from the start while saving ground, reached a narrow advantage in the stretch and just failed. OTHELLO dwelt at the start, then closed with a belated rush. PETRQGRAD, slow to gain stride, finished stoutly and is eligible to improve when sent a longer distance. WHAT vied for the lead until the stretch and faltered slightly. ISLE OF WAR was shuffled back early. MYSTIQUE HORDE and ST. RAM quit. SUNNY SOUTH flashed speed and gave way. Scratched— 30079 You and Me, 122; 99799 Blazonry, 113. Overweight— What, 3 pounds. MY GOOD MAN saved ground while in close pursuit of the pace, regained the lead when IRISH EASTER broke down after the tenth jump and outgamed HAMPTON ROADS in a hard drive. The latter, never far back, went up to threaten boldly when called upon and just missed. RANK tired. FLOATING ISLE was through early. MIKE M., with the first flight from, the start, took command when punished and drew away in the closing furlong. TUMBLER, never far back, made a game bid in the stretch, but was not good enough. MOP UP lacked speed, took up on the turn when blocked, came out for the drive and finished stoutly. GLAD TIME had good speed until the stretch and gave way as if short of a top effort. ASSASSINATOR tired. TOPS ALL, sore during the post parade, had speed for a half mile, then gave way and came out of the race apparently in distress as the rider dismounted upon pulling his mount up. AMPHORA forced the pace on the outside, took command and drew clear when called upon and won fully extended. ALGERIAN saved ground while a sharp contender, veered out nearing the furlong post, held on well in the, drive, but could not menace BE MODEST improved position from the outside, was forced to the middle of the track enterinq the stretch and hung nearing the end. A claim of foul against ALGERIAN and BE MODEST by the rider of BELLE AMIE was not allowed. The latter, prominent between horses, eased back nearing the furlong post when in a trifle close. TOTO lacked speed. SISTER LOUISE saved ground and had no excuse. BOLD IRISH was through before five furlongs. GUIDING had good speed until leaving the turn and quit. SKY POWER made a mild bid under punishment leaving the turn and gave way. HYVANIA made the pace under hard restraint, then gradually dropped back when punished. SKY MIRACLE quit.
