Dear Tint Seeking Fourth In Row in Detroit Sprint Meets Five Other Sophomores In Grand Circus Park Purse By DON FAIR Staff Correspondent DETROIT, Mich., June 11. — G. and G. Stables Dear Tint, a quick bay son of Tintagel and Ina Dear, will attempt to run his victory string to four straight here tomorrow when he clashes with five other sophomores in the Grand Circus Park Purse. Dear Tint will shoulder high weight of 119 pounds under the allowance conditions of the six furlongs sprint and he is to have the saddle services of the capable journeyman reinsman, Eldon Coffman. Dear Tint, early choice for the days attraction, recently defeated Good Question, Tiger Matt, Sir Cobo, Night Parade and other shifty three-year-olds in the three-quarters mile Cranbrook Purse. Previous to that conquest, the G. and G. Stable racer captured the Detroit Purse at a similar distance and he also visited the winners circle at Churchill Downs before transfer to the Livonia course. Night Parade is to again try Dear Tint in the Grand Circus Park and Mrs. George C. Whites colt gets in with 107 pounds. Others named for the featured dash are Grace Kosiba Stables Skyfaiding, 114; Mrs. E. Johnstons improved Sal Price, 109 with the apprentice allowance; The Farms Continued on Page Five Dear Tint Seeking Fourth In Row in Detroit Sprint Meets Five Other Sophomores In Grand Circus Park Purse Continued from Page One Beauty Spot, 114, and Mrs. A. Kuhns Blue-fin, 102 pounds. Lois C. Cook, who has sliown good saddle form during the current Michigan season, is to guide Skyraiding, young Sherman Armstrong will be up on Sale Price, while Tommy Barrow drew the mount on Night Parade. Darrell Madden, contract rider for the stables conditioned by H. H. "Pete" Battle, will, of course, handle Beauty Spot, and youthful George Walker, one of the best lightweights to appear here in some time, is to be up on Bluefin. While Dear Tint is the early choice in the Grand Circus Park, he will have to be at his best to achieve another success. He will meet a worthy adversary in Sale Price, who was second to Tiger Matt in the Livonia Purse on the fourth day of the present meet. The Johnson filly has trained nicely for this engagement and she is favorably weighted for the race. Beauty Spot, handsome roan filly, the get of Bull Dog and Spotted Beauty, raced exceptionally well here last year but was beaten off in both of her 1951 starts at the local course. The Farm miss, however, had an excuse in the Grosse Pointe Purse for she not only was roughed leaving the upper turn in the three-quarters mile event but picked up a stone in a plate during the stretch run. Undoubtedly, one of the most fashionably bred thoroughbreds on -the grounds, Beauty Spot is expected to give an improved effort tomorrow. Perhaps the best supporting offering on tomorrows card is the one mile fifth race, which is to bring out a half dozen useful platers. The G. and G. Stable is to have a sharp representative in Gay Liberty for the secondary attraction and apprentice John Turner is slated to handle the five-year-old mare, who is the overnight favorite. Marion H. VanBerg will start Blewso, Kempton Knotts hope is Friendly Sands, H. M. Kellehers double winner, Araby Queen, Mr. and Mrs. J. Bartletts Gay Henrietta, and George A. Sacks Bon Lynn complete the field.
