French Derby to Sicambre ~ PARIS, France, June 11 Reuters. — Sicambre, Jean Sterns outstanding three-year-old son of Prince Bio and Sif, scored a comfortable win in the Prix du Jockey Club French Derby over 12 furlongs at Chantilly yesterday. It was a notable triumph for Stern for his other colt in the stake, Free Man, finished second. A length separated the Stern entry while LaVerde was two and one-half lengths further back in third place among the 14 starters. In winning the prize of 8,000, Sicambre was gaining his fourth victory in that many starts this year.
