LIBRAB held a clear lead along the backstretch, but faltered when engaged. WORLD EMPRESS weakened after an unsuccessful effort to stay with LIBRAB early. HEDDY B. held a favorable position, but faltered badly. BOULEVARDIER failed to reach contention. BALLINAKILL flattened out early. SURPASS, unhurried during the early running, made up ground boldly in the early stretch, assumed command and drew clear boldly, under continued pressure. PRINCE RANSOM set the pace without serious opposition and faded badly in the late stretch. HANDY MAN lacked a rally after racing forwardly placed and came back worse than usual. TWIRL held a forward position, but failed to respond. PALATIAL APPETITE closed well along the inside after being a trailer to the stretch. IN MY BONES dropped back steadily. LITTLE SHREW quit. The latter raced along the inside early, was taken outside for his rally and, while wearing down CECIL M., could not outfinish the winner. CECIL M. set the pace without serious opposition, but faltered in the late stretch. JOLIRAB faltered after pressing the pace of CECIL M., LILLIAN CLARKE could not keep up. BAZAAR QUEEN, racing along the , inside while improving her position early, drifted out through the stretch, but wore down SIR HELIOS. The Z! latter, always formidable, was left with the lead when the early pacemaker faltered, but was unable to retain the advantage. MR. FERVID was always prominent, but raced quite wide through the stretch. BRIGHT BONES ir, rallied with the eventual winner, but could not keep up. SANCTUARY failed to reach prominence. MAKE O SWAY, hard pressed for the lead through the first half mile, quit badly NIGHTINGALE was through after going a half mile. ESTAS ACE broke tardily and, after a couple of unsuccessful attempts, wheeled and unseated his rider. MERRY RISK assumed command at once, set the pace under good rating and withstood the extended drive of CHAINS. The latter moved to the leader boldly on the final turn, fought it out gamely and just missed. Culmones claim of foul against the winner for alleged bumping through the stretch was not allowed. ARTHUR PILATE could not menace the top pair with his mild rally. ARCAVE raced forwardly placed, but flattened out when set down for the drive. MARCH CHICK, hard held while in close attendance to the pace, Joined the leaders in midstretch and drew clear while being ridden out. MIRTHMAKER, rated within striking distance of the pace, responded well to move just in front of the winner, but was hot good enough. SUPER-SALESMAN was rated in front to the final turn and turned back an early challenge, then gave way. CER VANTE was never a serious factor and pulled up a bit sore. CLEAN BROOM faltered badly.
