Nancie Pate in Initial Appearance at Fairmount Faces Full Field of Sophomores To Oppose Filly in Troy Purse By PAT CAUDILL Staff Correspondent FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 11. — As is customary, no racing was presented at this course on Monday with the sport slated to resume tomorrow evening with the presentation of eight races. A full band of three-year-olds comprise the field to contest the sixth and featured event named for the nearby community of Troy. A purse of ,200 is offered and the sophomores will break - from the six-furlong chute. C. W. RenfroesNancie Pate, a consistent daughter of Pairbypair, will be making her first local appearance and appears well enough placed to merit top consideration to return as the winner of the affair. This filly was vanned here over the week-end from Washington Park and recent outings there should have her in top form. She gets in with only 104 pounds and will be handled by apprentice B. Bennett. W. A. Mikels Chinese Yen gets in with the same impost as Nancie Pate and this youngster will be handled by apprentice E. Van Hook. In her only outing here, Chinese Yen scored a head decision over such steady performers as Poplar Street, Mendy and Sal Quest and from that effort should draw a goodly share of support from the wagering public. The field also includes such dangerous threats as D. Hardys Fast Donna, Silver Creek Farms lama Duke, Mrs. A. M. Creechs Fini Wise, A. H. Sumerlins Ross Due, and W. L. Hoags Beecee. The latter possesses keen early speed and could easily prove troublesome to this field tomorrow night. D. Stanifers Indian Ballad, F. Randos Papa Felg, and M. E. Brys Breezy Nancy complete the field of 10. The second race, a six-furlong claiming event, the Sammy Kaye, has been named for the famous band leader who will view the running of this event before departing for a personal appearance in Collinsville. The field includes several such as Meadow Grey, Mad Saint, Leading Wac, and Ree-dom, who have raced well enough recently to emerge the winner from a best effort. Post time for the first race, will be 8:30 p. m.
