GLEN HAWKINS— Will drive Goose Island in the featured 17 class conditioned pace at Sportsmans Park tonight. U.N.O. Makes Seasonal Bow at Sportsmans Five-Year-Old Finished His 1950 Ca mpaign With 14 Straight Wins SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, HI., June 11.— U. N. O., who finished off his 1950 campaign with 14 consecutive heat wins, makes his 1951 debut in a 17 Class Conditioned Pace at Sportsmans Park tomorrow night. The five-year-olds Palmer Cold Cash bay gelding, owned by N. B. Ewing, Rutledge, Mo., got his mark over a mile track on the very last day of his book with a 2:03% performance at Nashville, Tenn. The bay racked up a 2:05% trip at the half-mile oval at Bethany, Mo. Although U. N. O. shows an impressive fair meeting record, the bay will find plenty of rough competition from Glen Hawkins Goose Island, and Red Scotts Click. • Goose Island, four-year-old Brookdale mare, toured the Aurora Downs course in 2:08 on June 4, whipping such formidable sidewheelers as Gallant Song, Court Lawful, Chief Taylor and Mr. D. Grattan. Click, like Goose Island, also won last out at Aurora Downs. The Cardinal Prince four-year-old mare, owned by the Doughertys, La Grange, UL, started from eighth post position and went a 2:07% mile. In doing this, the mare disposed of Red Sails, Little Winifred W. and True Ladyship. Rounding out the field against U. N. O., Goose Island and Click are Margaret Mitchell, Frisco D. Cash, The Counselor, Miss Woodland and Dalemont. This field goes postward as the sixth race on the nine-race program. A junior free-for-all pace, going the mile route, has been carded as the final race of the evening. In order of post position the field consist of Ben Ash, Laura Jane Tryax, Major Brookdale, Orphan C, Chief Strong, Beaver Hal, Margaret Ann Blackstone and Highlawn Direct. Seven "dashhounds," blazing away over the nine-sixteenth dash route, will set the track a churning in the eighth race. The horses to beat in this "sprint" affair are Curly P. Grattan and Tony Hal. Those who will attempt to catch the speedsters are James Elworthy, Duskydale, G. W. A., Roger Stone and Marj L. Marks.
