MRA Officials and Committee Of HBPA in Purse Discussion - DETROIT, Mich., June 11.— A committee from the Michigan division of the Horsemens Benevolent and Protective Association met today with president E. E. Dale Shaffer, executive vice-president George Haggarty, and general manager Robert Leavitt, of the Michigan Racing Association, to discuss purse distribution for the balance of the Livonia courses 1951 season. After the session, president Shaffer, stated that he Michigan Racing Associations board of directors will convene Thursday to discuss the purse requests made by the HBPA. After the directorate of the local track meets, Shaffer, Haggarty, and Leavitt will again meet with turfmen and render a decision in the matter of purse distribution.
