Harold F. Moore Dies BELMONT PARK, Elmont, L. I., N. Y„ June 11. — Harold P. Moore, 51, a special agent for Pinkertons New York racing service, died suddenly this morning at Mercy Hospital, Rockville Centre, L. I. Moore was a retired lieutenant of detectives of the New York City Police Department and was cited 10 times for meritorious service. His encounters with law breakers included a hand-to-hand gun battle with "Fats" McCarthy, wanted for murder. Although shot 13 times himself, Moore succeeded in killing the fugitive. Moore joined the Pinkertons under Jerry OGrady in March of 1947 and was instrumental in ridding the New York race tracks of the lawless element since that time. He is survived by his widow, Helen Moore, and four children, Harry, Mrs. John Moody, Kerin and Judy. He also leaves a sister, Vivian Moore, and a brother, Leo, both of LongIsland City.
