Governor Appoints New Commission in Florida TALLAHASSEE,. FIa„ June 11. — Gov, Fuller Warren surprised: political and racing circles today when he appointed a completely new racing commission, ousting the five old members. The new board is composed of Lawrence Rogers of Kissimmee, an attorney and publisher of a country weekly; Charles S. Islar of Panama City; Carl Han ton of Fort Myers, publisher of a daily newspaper in that city; B. C. Jones, of Naples, an attorney, and Robert Sanchez, of Live Oak, also an attorney. Jones served as a representative and Sanchez as a senator in the last legislature, which adjourned 10 days ago and will not convene again until 1953. Deposed were Leo Edwards, chairman, of Miami; Roy L. Patience. Crescent City; Ralph L. Crum, Lakeland; Percy O. Corbin, Blountsville, and B; P. Beville, -secretary, of Gainesville. Governor Warren re-appointed them to serve for another two years, but the Senate refused to confirm his action. The legislature adjourned without Governor Warren naming other men who would be acceptable to the solons. It was generally expected that Governor Warren would stand pat on his old appointees, despite senatorial objection. This led to much speculation about the legal status of the commission, and possible court proceedings were predicted. The Governor dispelled all this by wiping the racing commission slate clean and creating an entirely new board, even though it must necessarily serve without the legislative seal.
