Safe Containing 5,400 Taken From Co mis key Park Burglars hammered through a brick and concrete wall in the offices of the Illinois Sportservice Inc., which operates all concession stands at Comiskey Park, early yesterday morning and hauled away a 2,700-pound safe containing 5,400 in cash. The money represented week-end receipts from the sale of food and drinks at the White Sox-New York Yankees games. The cash was to have been picked up later in the morning by money truck. Donald MacKay, .manager of the concession firm, said the safe was about three feet square and had to be handled by six men when first installed. Police said the burglars must have, scaled the fence at the south end of the park and jimmied the, steel door afe.the truck, entrance: ffUtii£i fill aoil:r* near the southeast corner of the park. They then jimmied two wooden doors leading to %the cashiers office where the safe was kept. Marks on the floor revealed the use of a dolly to transport the heavy object. The thieves then hammered through a four-inch concrete wall to move the safe out of the office onto a ramp under the stands. There they hauled the safe about 100 yards to the gate where a vehicle, probably a truck, waited to take it away.
