Citation Develops Slight Inflammation in Hind Leg HOLLYWOOD PARK, Inglewood. Calif-June 23. — Because of a slight inflammation in a leg that showed up this morning, trainer Jimmy Jones declared Citation from todays running of the Inglewood Handicap. Jones made the following statement: "I have been very anxious to get this race today under Citations belt and Im keenly disappointed that I have to scratch him at this late hour. The horse this morning shows a little inflammation in his left hind leg and by putting the effort of todays race on it there could be serious consequences. "With an ordinary horse, perhaps a chance could be taken, but in the case of one like Citation I feel there is only one decision to make and this is to withdraw from the race. "I believe the inflammation should clear up in a few days and I feel certain that barring unforeseen complications Citation will be ready for the American Handicap, July *4, and the Hollywood Gold Cup 10 days later."
