Narragansett Condition Books Distributed to Horsemen PAWTUCKET, R. I., June 23.— Condition books for the summer meeting at Narragansett Park which opens Monday, July 2. were distributed to horsemen at Suffolk Downs today by Ted Dooley and j were mailed to other horsemen in various j parts of the country. The book, which ! covers the first 12 days of the 24-day ses- j sion, is a typical "Ty" Shea production, offering opportunities to all grades and ages of horses with a wide choice in the matter of distance. Two stakes are included, the Spring Handicap for sprinters, i three-year-olds and upward on July 7 and the King Philip for routers, three -year -olds , and upward, July 14. Three-year-olds are exceptionally well catered to, there being at least two races each day for this age bracket and on several days three are listed for the sophomores. Distances range from six furlongs to one mile and a sixteenth and conditions provide for maidens, maidens claiming, non-winners of two races, claiming values from ,500 to ,000, fillies only, and many allowance races, the latter which permits contenders for the Providence Stakes, July 18, to get in a race over this course. There are races of every description for two-year-olds and the older horses have a wide range of races over all distances and differing conditions. There will be nine races each Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, eight races the other days. The con- dition book also states that apprentice riders may claim in all overnight races the customary seven, five and three-pound allowances.
