Twelve Three-Year-Olds In Trot Stake Tonight Darish Will Drive Empress of Mercia in Sportsmans Mile Test SPORTSMANS PARK, Cicero, 111., June 25. — Another Illinois Colt stake goes in the third race at Sportsmans Park tomorrow night for a ,000 purse. Rosemary Court. owned by Mrs. William Reif of Morristown, 111., is the only youngster who has a victory so far this spring. Rosemary Court will be driven by Dee Stover. Edgar Leonards stable sends two impressive colts to the post in Black Haven and Knight Abbe. Leonard will drive Black Haven and his son, 23-year-old Jack, will pilot Knight Abbe. The feature event of the night will be the fifth race with 12 three-year-olds going after the ,416 stake jackpot. Four of the entrants have already won this season at Maywood Park. Frank Darish, 25-year-old sulky pilot from Roosevelt Raceway, will drive Empress of Mercia, one of the best young horses in the middle west, owned by Mrs. Eleanor James of Wheaton. Other recent winners in the race include Scots Worth, Miss Mary Dean and Primrose Worthy. Dan Peacock, the former polo star from England will pilot Primrose Worthy for Norman Towne of Libertyville, HI. Tommy Mills of Boonville, Ind., will bring Earls Pied Piper to the post in the seventh race after the classy trotter made an impression at Rosecroft and Yonkers earlier this spring. It will be the seven-year-old brown geldings first start in the middle west. But the Cicero oval is no novelty to Mills. Tommy was leading all drivers here last year in the first two weeks when he was badly banged up in a nasty spill while warming up a pacer before the first race. Mills will be remembered for his great work in bringing Grattan Truax into top form last spring. In the fourth race Bill McKlyo, another youngster, will go after his third straight victory against an eight-horse field of 24 class pacers. Driven by Charlie Jacobs, the little colt won his last two at Maywood Park and is out take up where he left off on the Cicero half-miler. His toughest competition will probably come from Gus Paseman who gave him a race down to the wire in his last out. Roy Riegle will handle Gus Paseman. The Central Plaza Hotel will be honored with a special race on the harness racing program of next Monday, June 30 at Sportsmans Park. This hostlery, of which W. Fox Adamson is manager, is the rendevous for all harness horsemen and enthusiasts of the sulky sport. Adamson will make a double presentation at the judges stand after the special event, presenting a handsome trophy to the winning owner and a valuable stop watch to the victorious driver. This feature is but one of the many special features officials of Sportsmans Park have planned for the 42 night meeting which extends through Aug. 9.
