Jack Chambers to Ship Stable To Fair Grounds Track Sept. 1 NEW ORLEANS, La., June 25. — Although the Fair Grounds track will noi inaugurate its 1952-53 season until November 27, officials of the New Orleans track already have granted Jack Chambers of Memphis, Tenn., permission to ship hic stable to the track here on September 1 The racing strip is being kept in top condition and available for training purposes. Chambers stable includes many horse: from South America and these will be trained by the veteran trainer, Frank Po-desta, also a native of Memphis. Officials of the local track plan to applj to the Louisiana State Racing Commission for dates for an 82-day meeting. Starting on November 27 the session will run through March 14, on a five-day-a-wesk schedule with the exception of four weeks when Monday racing will be held. The four racing Mondays will be the Mondays before Christmas, New Years Day, Mardi Gras and the one after Washington Birthday, February 23. The Fair Grounds directorate discussed and drew up their purse and stakes program for the 1952-53 season at a meeting on Monday but will withhold any announcement of it until after Gov. Robert Kennon signs the amended racing bill. According to provisions of the measure before the governor, the track will receive additional revenue in the lower brackets of betting and this will enable the Fair Grounds management to offer higher purses and stakes for their coming meeting.
