Two Racing Stars Share Spotlight on Week-End Arlington to Stage Arcaro Day; Spartan Valor Will Seek Equipoise ARLINGTON PARK, Arlington Heights, 111., June 25. — Two stars of thoroughbred racing, Eddie Arcaro and Spartan Valor, will share the spotlight at Arlington Park Saturday, and a star from the entertainment world — Jimmy "Schnozzola" Durante — will be on hand to lend a little professional advice. Durante, as master of ceremonies, will help honor the master rider on "Arcaro Day" at Arlington, a day set aside by executive director Benjamin F. Lindheimer to celebrate Eddies 3,000th win on American tracks. Arcaro reached the coveted mark Tuesday with two winners, to become the first American-born jockey to reach the 3,000 goal. He now is the leading jockey at Arlington with 10 victories. Spartan Valor, the handsome four-year-old pacesetter among handicap horses, is a prime choice in Saturdays 0,000 added Equipoise Mile, and his owner. William G. Helis, Jr., will be on hand to watch the Chicago debut of Equipoises grandson. Helis has his racing string stabled at Arlington and is aiming at capturing one or both of the two 00,000 added handicaps scheduled at Arlington, July 26, and Washington Park, September 1, with the swift son of Attention. Arcaros day will be filled with gifts and surprises for the brilliant little rider. Arlington Park Jockey Club will make a presentation, while Ike Bassett, midwest manager of the Jockeys Guild, announced that the riders have something cooking for their fellow star.
