Illinois Notes FAIRMOUNT PARK, Collinsville, 111., June 25. Trainer Herb Perry departed for Centennial Park with the M. H. Welborn stable, consisting of Valetta B., Bee Crest and Hieland Dare. George Green, chief accountant here, returned from Kentucky where he visited his son, Capt. Charles "Chuck" Green, who was injured in a paratroop accident while on a training flight. Capt. Green, a veteran of World War II., suffered a fractured hip, but is reported to be out of danger from complications and his many friends wish him a spedy recovery. The Idle Stable owned by M. A. Coppola of Chicago announced plans to ship Stuber to this plant to vie in the Missippi Valley Handicap on Friday, June 27. Sayne Sweezy shipped in Rusty Lad and a two-year from Chicago. Homer "Sonny" Ellis of the official staff arrived from his home in Tampa, Fla., and will assume his placing judge duties on the re-opening Friday night, June 27. Racing secretary Jack Klucina announced that the spring meeting badges will be valid until July 24 which ends the spring meeting. New badges for the fall meeting will be issued on July 25. Peter J. Valenti checked in from Arlington and registered Joe Star, Davids Pebble and Caillou Rouge. The veteran New Orleans horsemen will train his own campaigners. Racing secretary Jack Klucina stated that over 750 horses are now registered here. Klucina contemplates no difficulty in presenting attractive programs. Forrest Rooney. the clerk of scales at the local course, returned from a week-end visit at his home in Chicago. Rooney was accompanied by his wife. Owner P. J. Valenti shipped in three head for the coming meeting. The stable competed at Sportsman Park and Lincoln Fields during the spring campaign. Jockey Leon Grandsart, who just arrived from River Downs, revealed that William Owen, ex-steeplechase rider, turned flat rider, will ply his trade at the local oval. Martin Level announced plans to ship six head in from Chicago and the contingent will arrive Tuesday morning. Owner -trainer Al Kelem, sporting a very wide grin, distributed cigars among the colony this morning to celebrate the arrival of a son weighing 6 pounds, 8 ounces. The three-year filly Breezy Pasty has been turned over to William Skidmore by owner Jack Martin. The promising filly was formerly handled by J. C. Humes, Jr. Racing secretary Jack Klucina distributed the third issue of the spring meeting condition book. The book covers seven days of the coming meeting.
