WHIZ-A-BIT came strongly nearing the stretch turn to catch COURTS MAUDE and drew out in the stretch, increasing her advantage when put to the whip and winning by a wide margin with her rider having her under pressure to the end. COURTS MAUDE broke quickly, but tired in the stretch. G. I. JOSIE moved up on the outside nearing the stretch turn, but was unable to make much impression in the run home. PETES BEST closed a gap in the final quarter. LADY TOY dropped out -of it after going half the distance. SPEEDY BABY WAS ORDERED WITHDRAWN BY THE VETERINARIAN BECAUSE OF LAMENESS AND MONEY WAGERED ON HER WAS REFUNDED. Scratched— 586324 Speedy Baby, 117. Overweight — Foolish War, 2 pounds; My Henny. 2. ASHES was off rather slowly, was outrun early and appeared to have but little chance turning for home, then came very fast in the last furlong to get to the front in the last fifty yards and won going away. SHADY NOOK was also slow to start and came fast through the stretch. CALORIMETER was never too far removed and went gamely to the end. SPIRIT AWAY had speed while racing on the outside of the early leaders and held on well. TIME TO KHAL had good early speed, but faltered nearing the finish. OROFINO was outpaced. YUTU headed the field after racing a quarter and drew away after going a half, then easily widened his margin in the stretch to finish far in front and running easily. GEE-LIGHT improved her position gradually when put to pressure and was much the best of the others CHIEF OSCEOLA was in the midale of the track all the way, but was crowded back at the start and made up much ground. PARADISE was not called upon for his best in the early running and was content to remain within striking distance to the last furlong, then came very fast in the middle of the track to easily take command. CELTIC PLAY was also reserved m the early running and finished with good courage. MIGHTY MOMENT dropped back to last place nearing the far turn and went well thereafter POSSESS made a bid for the leadership while racing wide on the stretch turn but lost too much ground and weakened in the final drive. ACE DESTROYER was in rather tight in the early running while trying to get through on the inside of BROOKHAVEN, then found an opening on the stretch turn to take command, but tired in the last sixteenth. YALEMAN was allowed to take it easy in the early running, but moved fast on the inside when given free rein and, finding an opening next to the rail on the stretch turn, came through to take command and open a wide advantage, but was shuffled along near the finish to make success certain. BLUE VOLT was outrun to the stretch, then came fast in the middle of the track and was gaining rapidly. SILVER K. withstood challenges from HOOPLA and WHIRLAHEAD before going wide on the stretch turn and losing the leadership. ROSE BOUQUET went to the front early and, withstanding a mild challenge from ONE TWELVE nearing the stretch turn, hugged the rail on the turn I to pull into a long lead and was an easy winner. CAJAC raced very wide on the stretch turn and failed to i threaten the winner. JUNIOR raced very wide all the way and especially wide when he. followed CAJAC out on the stretch turn. ZOOM was going strongly at the end. THE EAGLE was unable to offer serious contention. JO PILOT raced on virtually equal I terms with RECOVER down the backstretch around the stretch turn and into the stretch, then increased her r margin slightly after entering the ast furlong, but had to be hustled along to the end to retain her advantage. RECOVER contested the issue stubbornly from the start and went well to the finish under hard riding. * ROMAN MISS was in rather tight quarters while trying to make a run in the stretch, but recovered to finish well. TWO RAINBOWS, while failing to threaten the first two, went steadily to the finish. DICKIE SUE turned d" in a creditable and even effort. AESTHETE, badly outrun early, finished very fast. FLYAMANITA failed to be e a serious contender. LAST GREETINGS lacked speed and was never a contender. WHIRLA LEA was away slowly y and was badly outrun in a dull effort.
