ALAS improved position gradually on the backstretch, rushed boldly on the turns to assume command, drew, clear and prevailed over DIBILLANE. " The latter worked her way up between horses with a late challenge. PROHIBIT, forwardly placed to the final turn, raced wide and war eliminated. HURRY PASS forced the pace, weakening in the late stages. MISTRESS EDITH established the pace, saved ground, but weakened. FINAL DRIVE was unable to keep up. The others were outrun. PLASTERED broke alertly, remained with the pace under steadying restraint, entered the stretch with a clear lead, gave way momentarily, responded to late pressure and wars drawing out at the end. BLUE FEDORA moved between horses to near the leaders, saved ground to the stretch, came outside for the drive but was not good eonugh. TIGER MATT assumed command soon after the start, gave way after a quarter mile, regained the lead along the rail and faltered. BOBS PAL bullied his way between horses but was unable to menace. HI GEORGIE weakened. WISE BALLA slipped through along the inside to better the late position. LONG HILL lacked early speed. The others were outrun. The latter moved, to vie for the lead on the final turn, gained brief command, but was not good enough. FRAN JR. moved to the lead on the outside in the stretch, drifted out slightly and weakened. MADAME DEFARGE passed tiring horses. FINERY was unable to keep up. JIMMYS FIRST was rushed early to gain the lead and flattened out. TACTFUL PILOT was outrun. Overweight— Madame Defarge, 3 pounds. The latter was steadied slightly off the pace for a half-mile, gained command under i late drive, but was not good enough. HAY EDY established the pace under steadying restraint and was hell together through the stretch, weakening in the final yards. TWINTONE froced the pace for a half-mile an4 flattened out. The latter forced the pace for five furlongs, assumed command, moved to the rail and proved a stubborn foe. HASKELL oturan the field to take the early lead, held sway until the stretch, remained along the inside and continued on gamely under a drive. FLYING AWAY improved position steadily along the inside, was kept along the rail in the stretch and had no where to run. DUFFIN was unable to keep up. WAHOO showed ntohing. JANTEMBER raced up on the outside rounding the first turn, was unable to reach the pace and retired. TIP OFF drew clear after a half , mile, established the pace under steadying restraint, responded when set down entering the stretch and withstood a sustained stretch drive. TINY ADMIRAL, forwardly placed under stout restraint, rallied inside the final furlong and just missed. WHITSUNTIDE moved near the pace on the final turn, came with a rush and. closed with good energy. ASTEROIDE forced the pace, engaged for the lead on the final turn, went along with the leader to the furlong pole and weakened. FOURTH JACK had no mishap. DR. REES faltered. APPOINTMENT, under stout restraint for a mile, rallied mildly and flattened out. EAGLE LOOK was never prominent. , GIRDER was outrun. CONNIE RAB showed nothing. SEVENTH RACE 1 MILE AND 70 YARDS. ANDRE showed speed from the outset, gained the lead before a half mile, increased the advantage steadily and prevailed over the late rush of SOLDIER I SON. The latter, reserved within striking distance and saving ground, responded willingly and was overtaking .the winner. LARRY ELLIS, close up under stout restraint was steered outside for the drive and after reaching the leaders bogged down. FUTURESQUE closed fast from off the pace. OCEAN BREEZE saved ground but i failed to make up any distance with the late pressure. LITTLE IMP had no mishap. HARPES raced close to the pace for a half mile, dropped back, was bumped in the stretch and rider lost one of his irons. VILLAGER broke sluggishly was rushed up on the outside and flattened out.
