The other added money fixtures are 2 Mondays Tom Roby Steeplechase, Wednes- .r" days Christiana and Fridays Georgetown Steeplechase, each of which carries a 0,- q 000 purse. z The Sussex boasts among its winners C Stymie and Cochise, each of whom is credited with double victories in the event. * The "big" horses already on the grounds £ for the 10 furlong test are Mrs. Esther du- z Pont Weirs Royal Vale, who has a quartet rr of stakes victories to his credit this season, K and Mrs. Walter M. Jeffords, One Count, 1952 Horse of the Year. Both have trained _ splendidly over the local oval and the meet-ing is eagerly anticipated in this sector, Other possibilities include Count Turf, Golden Gloves, Referee, High Scud, First Glance andseveral other lesser lights. Christiana May Be Keen Contest Mid-week visitors should see a keenly contested five and one-half furlong dash in the Christiana, a race which attracted 163 nominations. Among the highly fancied prospects are Life Policy, I Appeal, Bitter Pill, Fusby, Porterhouse, Staffordshire, Tiercel, By Jeepers, The Prince, War of Roses, Full Flight and several others. The steeplechase branch of Delaware Parks program will commence on Monday with the Tom Roby, while the difficult stakes course will be placed into action •Friday afternoon, when the Georgetown is contested. The last-named fixture is one of two races contested yearly over the "outside" course, the other being the Indian River Handicap. The Roby, which is named for the gallant steeplechase rider who is still confined to the Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica, Long Island, after having been injured in a spill from Knights Quest at Belmont Park in 1942. Entered in the Roby, which is at the distance of about two miles over the regular course, are: James F.McHughs Sundowner, L. H. Nelles Extra Points, John M. Schiff s Montadet, Mrs. Esther duPont • Weirs Golden Furlong, F. Ambrose Clarks The Creek, Rokeby Stables Benbow, Mill River Stables Monkey Wrench and the Mrs. S. T. Patterson — Mrs. W. C. Wright coupling of Thermion and Call Me George. Sundowner, a five-year-old gelded son of Annapolis, was purchased by his present owner for 5,000 from the Rigan McKinney dispersal sale held at Belmont Park. He will be making his first start for McHugh and, needless to say, great things are expected of him in competition. Extra Points has raced exceedingly well this season and boasts four victories in seven starts. In his last start he was backed into 1 to 2 favoritism and finished second, beaten 25 lengths" by Patrol. Montadet, too, was second last titme out, but wasdisquali-field. Of the others, only Benbow and Thermion have*able to earn brackets this season.
