The Primer, a six-furlong test for two-year-olds, has attracted an excellent field of 13, headed by Everett Lowrances Everett Jr. In addition to the Primer, racing secretary Frank E. Kilroe has drawn up a strong supporting bill, with the 0,000 North Western for older horses at six furlongs and. a ,500 allowance test for three-year-olds at one mile on the program. Also billed are two races over the mile turf •course, one at a mile and a furlong and the other at five and one-half furlongs. Purse Distribution of ,560,000 Many of the nations outstanding racing stables have assembled at this spacious course and the Countrys leading thoroughbred performers will be out in force in quest of their share of the ,560,000 in stakes and purses being offered by executive director Benjamin F. Lindheimer and his associates in the Arlington Park Jockey Club. Sixteen stakes have been carded with the 55,000 Classic over one mile on July 18 the piece de resistance and the race in which Alfred G. Vanderbilts Native Dancer, current champion of the American turf, is scheduled to make his first Chicago appearance. The 5,000 added Arlington Handicap at a mile and three-sixteenths will ring down the curtain on the meeting, August 1, and will be preceded on July 29 by the 45,000 Arlington Futurity. Both the horsemen and public alike will view a good number of improvements at Arlington this season, with increased parking, seating and stabling facilities being among the many that have been arranged for the meeting. Wilson Starting Pair Returning to* the Primer and Everett B., who is regarded as the best colt shown hereabouts this year, the Lowrance youngster and Cresson Farms Company B., who won a division of the Joliet Stakes at the Lincoln Fields meeting, each will carry 122 pounds. The only two-horse entry in the 13-horse field will be that of Sam E. Wil- Conimued on Page Fifty-Two ARLINGTON PARK SCENE — The spacious northwest Chicago suburban course is all dressed up in its finery for the inaugural of its annual 36-day meeting this afternoon. Pictured above are the huge stands, the grandstand on the right and the clubhouse to the left, with the internationally famous Post and Paddock Club on the extreme left. A field is shown making the first turn of the mile and eighth course and also visible is the mile turf course inside the main oval. Several improvements, including increased parking, seating and stabling facilities, will greet turfmen and public alike this year. Horses from all sections of the country and from the nations leading stables will compete for ,560,000 in stakes and purses at the meeting Which comprises the initial portion of the 67-day co-ordinated season with Washington Park, the latter track taking up following the close of Arlington Park for a run of 31 days starting on August 3. Arlington Inaugurates 36-Day Meeting With Everett Jr. Heading Primer Field Lowrance Juvenile Engages 72 Rivals; Hill Gail Carries 128 in North Western Purse Continued from Page One son, Jr., of Texas, who will have Tenacious Ace and Red Ace as his representatives. Everett Jr. has been headed only once this year. That was when Mr. Prosecutor triumphed over him in the Bashford Manor Stakes. He turned the tables on his rival in a division of the Joliet Stakes here defeating Mr. Prosecutor by a wide margin. Everett Jr. won his end of the Joliet in much faster time than that made by Company B., and each was a winner later. In his start, Everett Jr. won the Whirlaway Handicap with Company B. third. Then the latter came back to register a success. In all, the Eternal Bull — Beedeecolt has won six races and finished second once for 2,335 in earnings. In his second start at the New Orleans Fair Grounds he finished on top, but was disqualified and Judy Foray declared the winner. Dicks Future, a colt who was the favorite in the first division of the Joliet, but was messed around and cut up during the running of the contest, later showed that he merits some consideration in the Primer. Dicks Future came back following the Joliet to show a good race in victory here. Of those having shown their wares at the Lincoln Fields meeting Everett Jr., Company B., and Dicks Future seem best. Arcaro on Homestake Eddie Arcaro, kingpin of American riders, j will have the mount on L. L. Haggins Homestake in the Primer, which assures that fellow of a good following. Homestake comes from Delaware Park, where he won an allowance race early this month. He was second last time out. Johnny Adams will have the mount on Company B., Al Popara will be on Everett Jr., and Ken Church will ride Dicks Future. Going down the line on the other contestants, we find that Two Fisted is a maiden who was unplaced in his only start; Red Ace was an easy winner in his first start at Lincoln Fields, but has been unplaced twice since; War Cable, owned by Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Daniel, is a maiden who has not been in the money in five starts; Tuosix, owned and bred by Clifford Lussky, graduated in his second start at the Lincoln meeting and later finished second to Company B.; Red Carnival, from the Duntreath Farm, is in fresh from two victories in Maryland and has not been worse than second in his last five starts; Reverie Knolls Smokelore recently graduated at Lincoln Fields; Park-Deere Stables Pielettaway has failed to win in four starts and was beaten 16 lengths by Smokelore last time out; Fred Hoopers Hoop Ring has two wins in six starts and was second to Company B. in the Joliet; and Tenacious Ace, who is also part of the Sam Wilson entry, has been first once in 10 tries. Hill Gail will go for his second victory of the Chicago season in the Northwestern Purse and is coupled with Peppy Lad, who is on the "also-eligible" list. Hill Gails reputation is well known. Peppy Lad won his last two starts, which were in Kentucky. Princess Lygia, a winner at Lincoln recently, and Pomace, who was third to Baybrook and Royal Mustang in the Fleming Memorial, will form another entry, and. Quiet Step and Handsome Teddy will make upo. third. Quiet Step hasnt started this year. In his last outing he was third to Armageddon and Golden Gloves in a Garden State stake. Handsome Teddy has not won this year. His best was a third to Indian Land at Jamaica. Jampol, a stakes winner last season, has not been better than second in 10 starts this year, but has raced in top company; Dean Cavy, a stakes winner last year, recently beat the well-regarded Blaze; Sub Fleet, second to Hill Gail in the Kentucky Derby of last year and a stakes winner at Washington Park last summer, is making his first try of the season; Whither, recently purchased by Mrs. Russell Reineman from A. G. Vanderbilt, was twice third at Jamaica after having spent the winter at Santa Anita, and Coffee Money and Eljay are well known through their exploits hereabouts last season.
