PUTT PUTT went to the front early and drawing out from the others after going half the distance, seemed much the best. POPNJAC raced very wide most of the way but finished steadily and was too good for the others. NIGHT FIGHTER was in strong contention to the stretch turn, then began to weaken. ELLA VILLA contested for the leadership with PUTT PUTT in the first half mile and dropped back in the stretch. RIVAS and JUDY ROUNDERS were never contenders. M. went to the front going to the first turn and was taken under restraint on the backstretch, then moved away- from the others when called upon rounding the stretch" turn and was an easy winner. LOCARNO was rated within striking distance early and came steadily when urged, but failed to threaten the winner. OBTAIN closed much ground to finish fast. OLD RUGGED lacked the early speed to keep up and came wide in the stretch but cut between the riderless POSSESS and the leading BUSTER JIM in the last thirty yards to get up in the final strides. BUSTER JIM, off quickly, took a good lead soon after the start, and saving ground just failed to last. PARKLEA made a fair move after entering the stretch but faltered in the final drive. FLIGHT CAPTAIN was going well at the end. DADS DEGREE was slow to begin and lacked speed. CROSSBOW GIRL tired badly. PRINCE ADARIS was badly outrun. BIT 0 BIM raced wide in the stretch but was close up at the finish. CHRISTY IMP showed an even and creditable effc HATS FIDDLE weakened in the last eighth. SLEEPY MABEL had speed to the stretch. SIR MANGO was sent to the front early and was taken under slight restraint, then continued steadily on the inside when headed by McCREIGHT nearing the far turn to again top the latter at midstretch and draw away in the last sixteenth. The latter raced well to the last sixteenth when he began to weaken and just lasted to hold ACE DESTROYER. The latter improved his position steadily and was going well at the end. FORCE OF ARMS made up ground while racing wide. PLATAN was close enough early while racing under restraint, but failed to respond when called upon, although saving ground in the stretch. RUHE, as usual, lacked early speed and was many lengths back of the leaders in the backstretch run, then came to the outside in the/ stretchNto make his move, and although lugging in slightly in the stretch and jostled when ROYAL MUSTANG was forced out, took command near the end, but was doing his best at the end to hold SUNNY DALE. The latter responded well to urging in the stretch and was gaining on the winner at the finish. ADAMS OFF OX, showing a good effort, was-never too far away and saving ground in the stretch, held on well. BAYBROOK went to the front early to make the pace, but tired and bore out in the last eighth to interfere with ROYAL MUSTANG, for which he was disqualified from fourth position and placed last. ROYAL MUSTANG showed good form in following the pace and was sandwiched between RUHE and BAYBROOK when the latter bore out. VERY SPECIAL was hustled to the front at once, and setting a good pace, withstood a mild challenge from MISS BROOK in the stretch to draw out near the end. MISS BROOK raced fairly close to the winner to the last sixteenth, then began to weaken and was doing her best to save second place. PENAWAY was some distance back of the leaders in the first mile, then made up ground. ALTRUISTIC was badly outrun. SOLID RED was far back all the way.
